Eating dysfunctions in female athlete a meta-analysis

Abstract

A systematic search computerized database EBSCO, LIRN and Medline Search (January 1988 - September 2008) was conducted using the following keywords: eating disorders, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, athletes, female, elite, performance and various other synonyms for the presented searched terms. 127 studies related with eating disorders in athletes were identified, but only 18 were found eligible. The eligible studies, published between January of 1988 and September of 2008, have examined the eating dysfunctions found in female athletes, in comparison with non athletes.
